Child Care

Child Care Assistance. Maryland’s Purchase of Care program (POC) and Montgomery County’s Working Parents Assistance program (WPA) are child care subsidy programs that help low-income parents with the cost of child care. For information about eligibility for POC and WPA, call 240-777-1155.

Early childhood development

Montgomery County Infants and Toddlers Program, 240-777-3997, provides free evaluation and assessment for infants and toddlers up to 36 months when there is a concern about delayed childhood development. Children with a documented, significant delay are eligible for early intervention services such as speech/language therapy, physical therapy, and mental health services. MENTAL HEALTH
In a mental health crisis, the fastest way to get help is to go to the nearest emergency room or to call 911. The Montgomery County Crisis Center, 240-777-4000, has a 24-hour crisis hotline. Montgomery County residents who are in crisis and who do not have a mental health care provider can obtain brief crisis counseling on a walk-in basis at the Crisis Center, 1301 Piccard Drive, Rockville.
