Children And Adolescents

Child Care

Montgomery County Children’s Resource Center, 332 West Edmonston Drive, Rockville, MD 20852.  For assistance in locating child care providers, preschools, nursery schools, kindergartens, and after-school programs, call LOCATE at 301-279-1773.

Child Care Assistance.  Maryland’s Purchase of Care program (POC) and Montgomery County’s Working Parents Assistance program (WPA) are child care subsidy programs that help low-income parents with the cost of child care. For information about eligibility for POC and WPA, call 240-777-1155.

Early childhood development 

Montgomery County Infants and Toddlers Program, 240-777-3997, provides free evaluation and assessment for infants and toddlers up to 36 months when there is a concern about delayed childhood development.  Children with a documented, significant delay are eligible for early intervention services such as speech/language therapy, physical therapy, and mental health services.  For preschool children 36 months and older, call Montgomery County Child Find, 301-929-2222.

Crisis Services

Adult Abuse or Neglect.  To report suspected abuse, call 240-777-3000.

Child Abuse or Neglect.  To report suspected child abuse or neglect, call 240-777-4417.

Domestic Violence.  Abused Persons Hotline, 240-777-4673.  The Montgomery County Abused Persons Program provides crisis and follow-up services to victims of partner abuse and individuals who have been abusive.  Intake number: 240-777-4210.

MENTAL HEALTH
In a mental health crisis, the fastest way to get help is to go to the nearest emergency room or to call 911.  The Montgomery County Crisis Center, 240-777-4000, has a 24-hour crisis hotline.   Montgomery County residents who are in crisis and who do not have a mental health care provider can obtain brief crisis counseling on a walk-in basis at the Crisis Center, 1301 Piccard Drive, Rockville.

RAPE/SEXUAL ASSUALT
For crisis services, call the Montgomery County Crisis Center at 240-777-4000.  For ongoing counseling and support, call 240-777-1355.

YOUTH CRISIS HOTLINE
301-738-7176.  This Mental Health Association service provides confidential telephone support by trained counselors on a 24-hour basis.

GENERAL REFERRAL AND SUPPORT

NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness), 240-949-5852, 10730 Connecticut Avenue, Kensington, MD.  An advocacy organization for people who have serious mental illness, their family and friends, NAMI provides information and referrals to appropriate services such as family self-help support groups and mental health services.

ADHD

AUTISM

DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES
Potomac Community Resources, Inc. (PCR), 301-365-0561, 9200 Kentsdale Drive, Potomac, MD 20854. PCR provides social, recreational, therapeutic and educational programs to teens and adults with developmental disabilities.

This is a DDA funded service providing direct services and support to children and adults with developmental disabilities who are living in their own homes. 

MENTAL HEALTH CARE FOR THE UNINSURED
Access to Behavioral Health Services - (Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services), 240-777-1770, 255 Rockville Pike #145, Rockville Maryland.

This Montgomery County “Access Team” helps people living in Montgomery County obtain and or access behavioral health services (mental health and substance abuse). Consumers of all ages who are eligible for the public mental health system or who are uninsured are linked with providers who are able to provide the requested service at a location convenient for the consumer.  

Montgomery County Mental Health Association TherapistLine, 301-638-7176.  Serving low-income, uninsured individuals, the TherapistLine provides referrals to therapists willing to see outpatient clients on a sliding fee scale.productive Issues

INFERTILITY

Miscarriage, Infant Death and Stillbirth - MIS Support Group, 301-681-5784. Self-help support group for people who have suffered a pregnancy or infant loss.

POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION
Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies, Child Center and Adult Services, Inc., 301-978-9750.  Provides outpatient mental health care for pregnant women and new mothers at risk of depression.  Serves clients with insurance, as well as uninsured women, who may qualify for subsidized care.

SENIOR CITIZENS
Montgomery County Aging and Disability Services, 240-777-3000.  Provides information and services to Montgomery County residents, both at 401 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, MD, and at satellite offices.

WOMEN'S ISSUES
